Whilst Brisbane might have a relaxed vibe, it doesn’t mean we can’t get busy with work. Our careers can keep us occupied and before we know it, we are too busy for love. We tend to put dating in the back burner until the last minute. Although Brisbane is a smaller place by comparison to smaller cities, finding like-minded people can still be tricky. Especially if we tend to stick to the same group of people and don’t explore outside of our comfort zone. That’s why many people love coming to Ideal Introductions! With our large database of clients, we help singles meet people who are genuinely looking for the same thing as you — a fun-loving and easy-going relationship. Unlike online dating, you know exactly who you are meeting and we make sure that you are matched to someone who is compatible with you.
First Date Ideas around Brisbane
Brisbane is not called ‘Brisvegas’ for no reason. Dating in Brisbane is definitely exciting. With a lively dining scene, the many outdoor parklands and a cultural precinct, you’d be spoiled for choice for dating inspiration. Here are some ideas to get you started for your first date around Brisbane:
Riverside date: Enjoy an ice cream and take breezy stroll along Southbank or why not have a drink or two at Bar Pacino over-looking the water views?
Artsy date: Take your date to GOMA and observe the beauty of artworks from local and international artists. Roam around just the two of you or you can also go on the free tour that shows you highlights of the gallery. Afterwards, head to the GOMA Cafe Bistro that offers a relaxed atmosphere beside the Brisbane River, with views of our city. If you are at the gallery in the evening, be sure to take your date to the GOMA Restaurant where they offer a five or nice course tasting menu and an excellent wine selection. Feeling inspired to take on painting? Then check out Cork & Chroma where you can bring your own favourite bottle of wine and enjoy a fun and feel good painting session. In between sips of wine and funky tunes, their artists will take you through the whole process step by step. By the end of the night, even the self-proclaimed ‘non creative’ guests will have created a masterpiece to take home!
Cafe date: Oh don’t get us started on Brisbane cafe life! There are plenty of spots to choose from. With great weather comes a cafe scene. If you want a low-key and relaxed vibe, try cafes like the Sourced Grocer in Newstead, and Pour Boy as well as the Gunshop Cafe, both in West End. For those who are on a gluten-free diet, try the Dovetail on Overend Cafe in Norman Park which serves delectable food.
Movie date: Catch a movie under the stars at the Open Air Cinemas in Southbank. With a comfy bean bag to lounge on and a wine in hand, you and your date will definitely enjoy yourselves. Like the old school style? Check out the Yatala Drive-In Cinema.
What to Wear on a Date?
It really depends on where you are going. Generally, you can consider these ideas:
Women: If you are going out dining at a fancy restaurant, you can never go wrong with a nice Little Black Dress. There’s no need to over accessorise, perhaps a pair of earrings and a bangle/bracelet will be enough to complete your look. If you can survive in heels, then absolutely do it; but if you can foresee some walking, low heels are still feminine yet comfy. Remember to have a little spritz of your favourite fragrance on too. If you are going on a cafe or park date, a flowy knee-length dress with low heel sandals would look lovely on you. Make sure you have a small bag where you can keep your phone in to keep distractions away.
Men: If you’re going on a restaurant date with a formal setting, you might want to wear nicely pressed pants and a shirt. Throw on a jacket for a smart look. It’s all about first impressions so wear it first and as the evening progresses you may take the jacket off. If you are looking an a day/outdoor date, hold off on the sandals/thongs and stick to casual shoes first. Remember your deodorant, some nice cologne and tidy hair/facial hair.

What our Clients say about Dating in Brisbane
Carrie and Brett Wilson’s Story
“I met the “one ” on my sixth match. Apparently I was his first match . We just knew it was something after we met . It made me nervous not knowing what he looked like – but that is all in the fun of getting to know the person and not just going for looks .
After our first date we both sent back feedback to our matchmakers that we would like to go on another date . He sent me flowers to my work and From there we had another date and put our accounts on hold to see where it would take us .
We did have a small break after moving in together – but after a year apart we realised we couldn’t be without each other and was ready to settle down; marry and have a child .
We met in 2011 and married 2015. 2018 marked our 3rd wedding anniversary.” – Carrie Wilson.
